Universal trim: 13Cr stem, wedge in CA 15 or 13Cr faced, and CoCr alloy faced seat API Trim 8 suitable for applications up to 850°F (454°C).

Seat face CoCr alloy hardfaced, ground and lapped to a mirror finish.

Flexible wedge with low center stem-wedge contact, in solid CA15 (13Cr) or hardfaced with 13Cr, SS 316, Monel or CoCr alloy. Wedge is ground and lapped to a mirror finish and tightly guided to prevent dragging and seat damage.

A CoCr alloy hardfaced CF8M wedge is also available.

Non-rotating stem with precision Acme threads and burnished finish. Double Acme for faster operation.

Body and bonnet joint accurately machined.

Body and bonnet castings are precision machined.

One-piece bonnet for better alignment and fewer parts for Class 150 up to NPS 16 (DN 400).

Torque arm reduces wear on packing rings and enables better sealing and reduces torque.

Impactor handwheels: Globe and stop check valves require higher closing torques than gate valves with the same seat diameter and pressure class. The most economical mechanism for tight shutoff is the impactor handwheel. Two lugs cast under the wheel strike simultaneous blows and give 3–10 times the closing force of standard handwheels. Impactor handwheels are supplied at manufacturer’s option unless specified by customer.

Check valves are installed to allow flow in one direction only and they protect systems that can be affected by reverse flow, such as a system shutdown. The Velan Valvac three-piece ball valve with integral ISO mounting pad is a low-cost ball valve for many industrial, commercial and OEM automated applications. The ISO mounting pad will allow quick and easy direct mounting of ISO compatible quarter-turn actuators. A key feature of this valve is the ability to easily adjust the packing without the removal of the actuator.

The sturdy one-piece ball and stem provides optimal strength, and is well suited to applications where fouling due to coke fines are a concern. The one-piece design avoids the problems generally associated with the more conventional two-piece ball and stem, which is highly susceptible to solids buildup in the ball-stem joint and a resulting increase in operating torques.Avoids hysteresis and misalignment.

A Lantern ring with steam block and extra deep stuffing box minimizes the risk of leakage occurring through the packing chamber. Live-loading is available on request.

Strong bellows offer a unique seat loading design that maintains the floating seats in constant contact with the ball and ensures a positive seal.

Velan’s unique scraper type seats design scrapes coke buildup from the surface of the ball during each cycle. Seats are hard-faced to ensure a long, trouble-free service life.

Steam purges to bellows and body area ensure the valve cavities are kept free of coke buildup.

The stem coupling is designed to perform three main functions:

Protect against “overtorquing” of the stem.

Protect the actuator components.

Protect against an unintentional switch into bypass (typically applies to four-way switch).

The electric, hydraulic or pneumatic actuator is selected in function of coker service. A large torque safety factor ensures the valve will cycle under the most stringent conditions. When selecting actuators, special attention is paid to the coker deck environment.

Patented Velan ring valves are an intrinsically safe design. The ring valve has no seats. It is a throttling valve. As a result, it does not require a mechanical stop in order to avoid full closure and the resulting drum overpressurization.

Steam purges: Steam purges to bellows and body area ensure the valve cavities are kept free of coke buildup.

Excellent throttling characteristics: In the “maximum obstruction” position, the valve provides a pressure drop equal to a butterfly valve’s set at 15° open.

Velan Securaseal R-series full bore ball valves are generally installed in high pressure applications where the highly erosive and sometimes corrosive reclaimed waters, used to drill the coke out of the drum, can significantly shorten valve life.

In order to ensure long, leak-free, reliable operation all valve wetted parts are hardfaced.

Valves are available in A105 or low temperature steels with stainless steel internals.

Both uni-directional and bi-directional are available.

Automation

General supplied with pneumatic or electric actuations that can be integrated into an existing OEM Logic.

Velan’s Torqseal® 2.0 triple offset valve is engineered to deliver repeatable full bi-directional zero leakage, lower torques and superior fugitive emissions performance.
Offering a bi-directional zero leakage closure with a metal-to-metal seat, the Torqseal® triple offset valve is the right solution when a tight seal is required.
The Torqseal’s all metal construction results in an inherently fire-safe design that can stand up to the most demanding services.

  • The Torqseal® advanced design features a triple eccentricity and unique elliptical seat geometry, that allows for friction free, non-rubbing operation of the valve during all the valve travel.
  • Standard laminated resilient disc seal to 800°F (427°C). One to four graphite layers are carefully assembled between stainless steel rings using a phenolic resin bond. The self-adjusting, resilient seal flexes and energizes, assuming the shape of the seat.
  • The Torqseal® triple offset valve’s conical cone-in-cone seating results in a non-rubbing and repeatable sealing and ensures little to no wear on the sealing components. The Torqseal® 2.0 uses triple offset geometry to ensure that the sealing ring contacts the body seat at the final shut-off position, without rubbing or galling. The Torqseal® 2.0 newly optimized fit-to-body offsets reduce operating torques requirements.
  • Zero leakage seat tightness (API 598 resilient seat standard). The resilient metal seal ring radially compresses around its circumference when torque is evenly applied as the seal ring makes contact with the integral metal body seat.
  • The robust centered-weighted splined connection(1) between disc/shaft produces a uniform and repeatable torque transmission and ensures even distribution of contact pressure between seat and seal.
  • Industry-leading emission control. With global emissions challenges facing the industry, Torqseal® triple offset valves are designed with the highest attention to controlling fugitive emissions, meeting API 641/ ISO FE standards.
